I Am Me Scotland is a charity focused on supporting people in Scotland. Our team works tirelessly to provide free, accessible, engaging, interactive and relevant resources that support people to live active and healthy lives.
Our new Disability Friendly initiative offers organisations free disability awareness training and the opportunity to become a part of a new inclusive network, supporting people to remain independent in their communities.
Many disabilities are hidden and often staff and volunteers can be unsure how or when to offer support. Our training has been developed with a range of partners to help ensure people can continue to live and travel independently. All Disability Friendly participants, receive free training and a certificate, and are celebrated in our newsletter and social media/websites
Each organisation will require a Disability Champion. This individual will ensure the relevant staff are trained and that resources are available (all resources will be provided free)
You can register to sign up for the training here. Training can be delivered to a group on-line or you can access the training in your own time. It's free and it's easy, so what' stopping you......
We recognise that many disabilities are hidden and sometimes their may be barriers with communication. This may be due to a variety of reasons, including; using a language other than English (for example BSL), being non verbal or having difficulty with communication. The Contact Cards are available free and have information which can help in an emergency.
If you would like to request a card, you can contact iammescotland@outlook.com or download a card from the PDF below. You can also download the electronic card and save this on your phone.
